Emily Welsh

Emily is a recent graduate from the University of Massachusetts Amherst living in her hometown of Annapolis, Maryland. She received a BFA in Studio Art with a concentration in Printmaking and a minor in Art History.  She is currently working two part time jobs while volunteering as an intern at Maryland Hall. There she is assisting in their galleries as well as helping to set up a printmaking co-op where she hopes to be teaching a class in intaglio printmaking in the fall.

Welsh aspires to become a gallery owner/director/curator (whichever comes first!) or at least to be professionally involved in an art gallery. In the mean time she is learning all she can about gallery life through interning at Maryland Hall, where she also has studio space, as well as doing freelance art for herself and friends.  She is currently working on illustrating a series of children's books written by her grandfather, one of which is nearly complete.  Her style has been compared to artists such as Edward Gorey, Hilary Knight, and Quentin Blake, and her favorite mediums to work with are Printmaking, pen and ink, and watercolors.
