The Campaign for Maryland Hall
The Campaign for Maryland Hall is a five-year $18 million capital campaign to modernize and expand Maryland Hall, the region’s premier arts center.
This project is necessary and transformative. Performer and audience upgrades, new education and performance spaces, and new indoor and outdoor areas will provide improved and new creative opportunities to engage more people to meet the needs of our ever-changing world.
We are connecting the community and creativity in new ways. This multi-phase capital project enhances the overall experience at Maryland Hall for all visitors with a major renovation of the main theatre and lobbies, two new theatre wing additions, and a major recasting of the lower level (former gym) and surrounding areas. New flexible indoor and outdoor spaces are created for more performances, classes, exhibitions, events and gatherings to better serve the community…Art for All.
Everyone is coming together to build a stronger community. Serving generations of our region’s families since 1979, Maryland Hall will continue to play a vital role in making our community a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
Concurrently, we are preparing for Act 2 – the new Theatre Production Wing – the first of two new additions. On the south side of the theatre, this wing is dedicated to improving backstage operations – with a loading dock, freight elevator, and stage equipment storage. The grand piano and the opera sets will no longer be precariously delivered up the front steps! Climate-control equipment for the theatre complex will be housed here as well. Important improvements that include ADA restrooms will make the community arts center more accessible to those with disabilities.
This expansion of our existing footprint provides the professional features needed to improve theatre production that enable new performance opportunities and better serve our growing and diverse audiences.
