Adult Classes

The Acrylic painting class is a beginning to intermediate level class. We will cover painting techniques, materials, subject matter, brushes and care of materials, mediums and color mixing. Students should bring several photos and/or items to class the first day. We will be working on 2 canvases during the class. Learn and develop the fundamentals of landscape painting while working directly from the source en plein air. We will discuss aspects of good composition, consider qualities of light, form, color and atmosphere through a variety of short painting or drawing studies. An emphasis will be made on quick decision making and responding to the sometimes rapidly changing nature of the landscape before us. We will meet at outdoor painting location in the Annapolis area. All painting mediums are welcome, but some experience in your chosen media will be helpful. Assignments will be based on criteria applicable to all media and individual technical/material specific advice will be discussed one-on-one. This is a 1 day on-site workshop. The Teen Studio allows young artists to concentrate on their skills in a nurturing and professional Studio setting. Students may work with any subject matter, with any materials and techniques. This includes drawing, painting, printing, pastels, small sculptures, fiber arts, etc. We will have personal critiques throughout the week and go over "tricks of the trade", and basic framing and displays for student's work. Students should supply their own materials for each project, including photos or subject matter. Individual attention will be given to each student. Intro to Abstract Painting begins with several excercises to highten creativity, while working with color, new techniques and materials. Every class starts with a new technique. We build upon this foundation and work up to a final finished canvas. We will be working in Acrylic paints, mediums and various surfaces. A apron is advised. A materials fee of $45.00 is payable in cash,the first day of class to the Instructor. This covers all the materials and tools used in class. There will be some home studio work throughout the week.
