    The Basics I class is for beginners and almost-beginners. We start with the basic ballet positions and simplest steps. Barre and centre exercises are followed by gentle stretching. The class emphasizes alignment and balance to produce ease of movement. Dress: Female: leotard and tights, or other comfortable clothes for moving, and ballet slippers. Male: T-shirts, tights (and shorts, if desired) or other comfortable clothes for moving, and ballet slippers. No class October 11th or November 22nd. This class is an extension of the introduction to the art of classical ballet, including barre, centre and stretch exercises. Some previous training recommended or by permission of instructor. Attire: Women: leotards, tights, skirts, warm-up pants. Hair should be pulled neatly off the face so it does not inhibit movement. Men: T-shirt, jazz pants, sweats or tights. Ballet shoes are required for both men and women. No class October 18-24.

    This 10-week class provides an introduction to the potter’s wheel. Students will learn basic techniques of centering clay, throwing simple forms and transforming these into more developed forms, such as vases, bowls and mugs. Glazing and decorating techniques are also introduced. Class is suited for beginner students and those with a little experience. Bring an old towel, a sketch book and lots of ideas.
