The Wednesday Morning Open Studio Figure Co-op offers the opportunity to do studies from life, working with experienced nude figure models. Three-hour sessions typically begin with a few short gesture poses before the model takes one or two long poses for concentrated study. No critique or instruction is provided. Co-op members with diverse levels of artistic background bring drawing or painting materials of their choice and work independently in a relaxed, collegial atmosphere. Easels, workbenches and tables are provided. A modest model fee, typically $7 - $10, is collected at each three-hour session. Individuals registered for any of the three Maryland Hall drawing/painting open studio co-ops are welcome to attend sessions of the other two (Wednesday morning figure/Thursday evening figure/Friday morning portrait) by paying the model fee for sessions they attend. Both portrait and figure work are displayed in the lower level alcove gallery. For more information, please contact Susan Jurow at srjurow@gmail.com

The Open Studio Portrait Co-op provides opportunity to work independently from live portrait models in a relaxed, collegial atmosphere. We bring to the studio professional models as well as subjects new to posing. Our models might occasionally return to their pose for more than one session to enable portrait studies to progress toward completion while working from life. Co-op members bring a diverse level of artistic backgrounds with the ability to work independently, as these workshops do not include instruction. Members work at their own pace, drawing or painting with materials of their preference. The managing of portrait studio sessions may occasionally be alternated among experienced members. The usual model fee paid by attendees is a modest $7 - $10 per 3-hour session. If work space permits, people registered for any of the three Maryland Hall drawing/painting co-ops are generally welcome to attend sessions of the other two open studio co-ops (morning figure/evening figure/morning portrait) by paying the model fee for sessions they attend. Artwork from portrait and figure co-ops is displayed in the lower level alcove gallery at Maryland Hall. For more information, please contact Sandy Cohen at sjcportraits@gmail.com.
