This class is an introduction to the art of classical ballet for the novice, including the basic positions of the arms and feet, the basic exercises of the ballet barre and centre, plus exercises for strength and flexibility. This class is a great way to work out and get into shape for the dance enthusiast. Prerequisite: none. Attire: Women: leotards, tights, skirts, warm-up pants. Hair should be pulled neatly off the face so it does not inhibit movement. Men: T- shirt, jazz pants, sweats or tights. Ballet shoes are required for both men and women. No class October 12-18.     Led by a Board Certified Music Therapist, this inclusive group of teens and young adults with and without disabilities will have the opportunity to build relationships while working toward performance opportunities. Previous music skills are a benefit, though not required. Mentor Musicians, ranging from high school/college interns to local performing artists, volunteer their time and musical expertise to help the Troupe rehearse and sound amazing!     The Basics II class is for the mature adult with some ballet background. Additional barre and centre exercises, including simple turns and jumps, will be added as the class level permits; however, students are encouraged to go at their own pace.     In this six- week hands on class students will improve their handbuilding skills . We will explore the use of patterns to construct our shapes we will explore darting and mark making. We learn how to make different feet and handles. By the end of the session students will complete two to three projects including a darted cup, footed tray and a lidded box. There will be a scheduled time to drop off pieces to be fired and scheduled glazing time at the end of session. Basic clay tool kit required.
