Glass Fusing & Metals Classes at Maryland Hall

The Glass Studio at MD Hall is one of our most engaging spaces where natural light filters in and kilns hum along turning students' work into masterful glass displays. Our Teaching Artists are accommodating to all levels of students by offering classes for all skills levels and ages including traditional classes, workshops to "just try it," family workshops and children's classes.

    This is a fun introduction to kiln formed glass, an amazing material with endless possibilities. In this 2.5 hour workshop students will learn how to cut glass and create a beautiful fused glass dish or bowl. Recycled glass, pattern bar pieces and stringer will be used to create one of a kind a 9 inch by 9 inch dish or bowl. This class is suited for students of all skill levels. Beginners are welcome. Projects will be fired after the workshop and available for pick up the following week.

    Cutting glass circles are not for the faint of heart. In this four week class students will learn advance glass cutting techniques to cut their own glass circles and create a beautiful bowl or dish. Students will learn how to create cane and murrine and be introduced to the vitrigraph kiln. All skill levels are welcome. A materials fee of $70 will be due to the teacher at the beginning of the first class.

Student will start with 12” clear glass base and decorate using colored glass, frits, and stringers. Instructor will ahere plastic lazy susan to glass.
