This workshop starts with techniques and materials commonly used by professional artists. Each day we will work with a new material including assorted drawing pencils, charcoals, erasers, papers, and oil pastels. Subject matter will include animals, human faces and forms, still life settings, and landscapes. Techniques will include enlarging and reducing images, line, form, light and shadow, volume, through value studies. Students will have class time to draw subjects of their choice, using the techniques covered in class. Please bring several photos and items to class with you on the first day of things that you would like to draw. This can include objects such as photos, action figures, animated figures, or just ideas that you would like to put on paper. This workshop is for beginner to intermediate young painters. Class starts working with the color wheel, mixing the paint color students want for completing several paintings on canvas board. We will use transfer and free hand techniques. Students may bring photos for subjects matter and may include animals, action figures, cartoons, pets, vacation post cards etc. No portraits please. Students will learn how to create brush strokes with several types of brushes using acrylic paints and finishing mediums. Comic books, graphic novels, and concept art abound in this week-long camp. Your young artist will learn to think, draw, and ink like an illustrator -- designing works of art around their favorite stories or their own narratives. Students may work in whatever style they wish, but will be encouraged to further their artistic growth with new materials and techniques, including drawing, painting, and other forms of wet media. This new summer workshop will give the students a chance to start with drawing materials to set up a still life, landscape, or favorite animal from photos or objects from home. We will then work on a painting in Acrylics to finish out the class. All drawings and the painting will go home the last day of class. Children of all ages will enjoy working with a parent to arrange brightly colored pieces of glass which will be heated in a kiln to fuse them together to make their favorite Pokemon characters and mythical creatures. They can be made into glass jewelry, nightlights, coasters or suncatchers. This is the perfect chance to capture your favorite characters in a new medium. Projects will require overnight cooling and will be available for pick up the following week. A materials fee of $5 per project will be due at the end of class. Students taking this workshop will be using quality studio grade materials and streched canvas to create a painting of their choice and subject matter. Students should bring several photos or objects of their choice to the first class to select a subject for a final painting. We will start with paper to size the project and create several thumb nail sketches for our studies and proceed to the easel to paint. Students will try several brush types as well as a variety of mediums for effects with acrylic paints. All styles of painting will be acceptable from realism to abstract, depending on the student's choice of subject matter for their work. Students fill their work with color using oil pastels and soft pastels to create beautiful landscapes, still life studies , animals and abstracts. This class covers pastel mixing, papers, both wet and dry techniques, mono-tone works and realist studies. If you have never tried pastels or have had trouble with muddy colors, this class is a necessity. Students should bring numerous photos to class the first day. These can be from a book or magazine, vacation photos, your photos, anything goes. All subject matter is your choice. Students in this class will have a chance to use quality, studio grade artist materials to create several final drawings of numerous subjects, including still life settings, exotic animals, and dynamic landscapes. Value studies, composition, shadow and light along with line and form studies will help young artists progress on a daily basis. This class inspires children to discover new ways of drawing everyday subjects. We will explore the differences between 2D and 3D objects, natural lighting from sunny to cloudy days, how to make fruit look like fruit and not a vegetable and how to draw humans and animals of all sorts. This class will include techniques for pencil, oil pastel, charcoal, and colored pencil. This is not your traditional drawing class. Many students get caught up trying to duplicate a photo, a realistic bowl of fruit or a portrait mirror image. This class will loosen the strings and set aside the rules of drawing. We will work with numerous subjects, pencil charcoal, water color pencils, oil pastels, inks, metallics and numerous papers and surfaces. The Great Enviro Wall is a painting experience for intermediate students from 12-16 years of age. Students will begin with a photo of their subject and learn to enlarge their photo to a canvas, that is 4'X6' large. Next, we practice mixing all the colors necessary to complete the painting. Students will work on their oversized canvas over the course of five days, and have an Art Show at the end of the class. Subject matter may be something like a Super Hero in action, a Family of Lions on the Savannah, a Castle in Ireland, Monarch Butterflies resting in the branches in Mexico, or Buffalo on the Plains. What we want to accomplish, is a story of Our Environment, Our Earth. Students should bring a lunch/several snacks, and old clothes. Three hours can be a long day of painting. The materials fee for this class is $65.00, cash only, please, due the first day of class. This includes: 1, 6'x4' canvas, primed 3 times, all the paint, mediums, drawing materials, watercolor pencils, brushes, clean up materials and brush cleaners. Learners will explore multiple ways of creating a moving image. Watch in amazement as your artful drawings come to life through stop-motion clay-mation, and hand-drawn animation. Students may work both individually or collaboratively, and will be provided a camera and tripod to create their work. The perfect camp for young sculptors! Students will discover multiple kinds of clay including natural clay, air dry clay, and polymer clay. Students will have the option to create and take home clay vessels, dragons, name tiles, and more. A materials fee of $25 is due to the instructor at the first class. A supervised lunch period (12;00 - 12:30) is available to students who take both morning and afternoon camps with Holly Rosario

Explore the world of art through the lens of trailblazing individuals including Frida Kahlo, Maria Tallchief, and Stevie Wonder. Campers will engage in hands-on art, music, and dance activities to learn to activate their creativity and create like famous artists whose work has changed the world. Children will draw a picture of their favorite animal or pet on paper and then construct the same portrait on a square tile of glass using fusible glass. Projects will require overnight firing and will be available for pick up the following week. A materials fee of $5 per project will be due to the instructor. Spend the week manipulating spinning blobs of clay into beautiful works of art on a potter's wheel. Students will learn techniques that will help them create bowls, plates, vases and more. Musical instruments have helped us communicate and express ourselves since the beginning of human culture. Learning about the musical instruments of the ancient Americas and building and playing our own instruments helps us to awaken the memory of our connection to nature, cultivate presence through the working with clay, and experience joy through sound and music-making.In this unique hands-on summer camp learners will be introduced to different musical instruments that have been made across Central and South America for centuries and learn to build and play their own working clay flutes.All are welcome, and no previous experience with clay, instruments or music is necessary.
