This workshop starts with techniques and materials commonly used by professional artists. Each day we will work with a new material including assorted drawing pencils, charcoals, erasers, papers, and oil pastels. Subject matter will include animals, human faces and forms, still life settings, and landscapes. Techniques will include enlarging and reducing images, line, form, light and shadow, volume, through value studies. Students will have class time to draw subjects of their choice, using the techniques covered in class. Please bring several photos and items to class with you on the first day of things that you would like to draw. This workshop is for beginner to intermediate young painters. Class starts working with the color wheel, mixing the paint color students want for completing several paintings on canvas board. Students will learn how to create brush strokes with several types of brushes using acrylic paints and finishing mediums. Children of all ages will enjoy working with a parent to arrange brightly colored pieces of glass which will be heated in a kiln to fuse them together to make their favorite Pokemon characters and mythical creatures. They can be made into glass jewelry, nightlights, coasters or suncatchers. This is the perfect chance to capture your favorite characters in a new medium. Students taking this workshop will be using quality studio grade materials and streched canvas to create a painting of their choice and subject matter. This is not your traditional drawing class. Many students get caught up trying to duplicate a photo, a realistic bowl of fruit or a portrait mirror image. This class will loosen the strings and set aside the rules of drawing. The Great Enviro Wall is a painting experience for intermediate students from 12-16 years of age. Students will begin with a photo of their subject and learn to enlarge their photo to a canvas, that is 4'X6' large. Next, we practice mixing all the colors necessary to complete the painting. Students will work on their oversized canvas over the course of five days, and have an Art Show at the end of the class. Subject matter may be something like a Super Hero in action, a Family of Lions on the Savannah, a Castle in Ireland, Monarch Butterflies resting in the branches in Mexico, or Buffalo on the Plains. What we want to accomplish, is a story of Our Environment, Our Earth. Students should bring a lunch/several snacks, and old clothes. Three hours can be a long day of painting. The materials fee for this class is $65.00, cash only, please, due the first day of class. This includes: 1, 6'x4' canvas, primed 3 times, all the paint, mediums, drawing materials, watercolor pencils, brushes, clean up materials and brush cleaners.
