    This class is the basic, entry-level class for the beginning tap and jazz student with an emphasis on the musical theater performing style. Rudimentary skills are developed while learning proper terminology, rhythm and musicality with an added emphasis on strenght and flexibility. Students should be at least 8 years old on or before April 1, 2022. The attire for class is as follows: Girls: Black leotard, tights or socks, shorts (optional), black tap shoes and black jazz shoes; Boys: Shirt, pants or shorts, black tap shoes, and black jazz shoes. Hair should be pulled back off the face into a neat bun or short ponytail. Students must own tap shoes to enroll in this class.     Your aspiring builder will love creating sculptures in this class about making art with air dry clay. Students are invited to participate with both modeling clay and model magic (air-dry clay), as we create sculptures in a different theme each day.     Children will draw a picture of their favorite animal or pet on paper and then construct the same portrait on a 6 inch square tile of glass using fusible glass. Projects will require overnight firing and will be available for pick up the following week. A materials fee of $5 per project will be due to the instructor.     Students in this class will have a chance to use quality, studio grade artist materials to create several final drawings of numerous subjects, including still life settings, exotic animals, and dynamic landscapes. Value studies, composition, shadow and light along with line and form studies will help young artists progress on a daily basis. Comparison of different papers, charcoals and drawing pencils will give students a variety of choices to use for their final projects. Students will have daily “Home Studio” work to prepare for the next day’s lesson, it is not mandatory, but extremely helpful if this work is completed. A materials fee of $45 is due to the instructor on the first day of class. This fee covers everything necessary for this class and an itemized list is available.
