Andrea’s professional career in Fine Art began soon after she graduated from the University of Iowa, College of Art with a BFA in Painting, minoring in Drawing, Sculpture and Textiles. Opening a textile supply store and Gallery in Iowa City, Ia., she and a colleague began teaching Fiber Arts classes in weaving, spinning, printing fabric and dying handspun fibers. Six years later she moved to the Annapolis area and started teaching Fine Arts at Maryland Hall, the Easton Academy of Art, and Peabody Outreach Programs. For the past 30 years, Andrea continues to instruct throughout the year.
Classes include: Drawing, Pastel, and Acrylic Painting for Adults. These classes include both Realist and Abstract styles, beginning to intermediate levels. Children’s classes include both Realist and Abstract styles, beginning to intermediate levels. Children’s classes include: Drawing, Painting, and Fashion Design, for ages 6-16, beginning to advanced. She also teaches Private Lessons for ages 6-years-old to adults, in your home, and schedules sessions to critique your work.
Along with teaching at Maryland Hall, she was an “Artist in Residence” for nine years, worked on the Visual Arts Committee, and Curator of the “Main Hall Gallery” for several years. From 2005-2010 she volunteered as a Co-Chair of the Membership Committee for the Maryland Federation of Art, and in 2010 was elected as President of the Board, for two years. Andrea works from her home studio, near the Chesapeake Bay. Her work is included in private collections in Maryland, Virginia, Washington D.C., New York, and Iowa. Andrea was commissioned by members of the “National Organization of Women” to create an enamel cloisonné lapel pin that was accepted into the Women’s History Division of the Smithsonian Institute.
Andrea Olney-Wall’s current projects include offering a greater selection of private classes, teaching International Workshops, and completing a series of educational books of Art Instructions in Drawing, Painting and Pastels.

Abstract Painting II is the next step we will be working with Acrylic Paints and will focus on an medium sized canvas. Students will try new tools and techniques for large work surfaces; how to mix enough paint, color studies, mediums, and textural effects. A materials fee of $65.00, is due to the instructor at the first class. Canvas is covered in this fee. Students may bring a second large canvases to the class to paint. No class on 11/27. This class will start with mixing acrylic paints to create new colors for seasons, weather effects, oceans, clouds, fur, feathers and more. Students will pick their own subject matter for their painting. Photos are a must, and should be in hand for the second class. No Ipads or Phone photos please. A materials fee of $45 is due to the instructor at the first class and covers all materials needed for the two paintings students will create in this class. An itmeized list of these materials is available upon request. Students will have an chance to work on an easel with a stretched canvas in this class. No class on 11/27. This class offers a fun introduction to acrylic painting with daily lessons on color mixing and painting, fur, feathers, clouds, oceans and many other subjects. Students must bring photos of their subject to class the first day. No portraits please. Subjects may be animals, still life or landscape. Please a drink and a smock daily. This Workshop combines working sketches for Acrylc paintings. Students will draw images for their paintings to scale, using several techniques and materials to complete several 11"X14" canvas board paintings. Students may select their subjects, using objects and photos they bring from home, or use my stock photos to complete their work. Any style of painting is acceptable. A materials fee of $65 is due to the instructor on the first day. No class on 11/27. All paintings will go home at the end of the 6 weeks.
