Biography

Matt started the on the lathe at 10-years-old making a laminated rolling pin. Thirteen years ago started making bowls and became a full-time woodturner 5 years ago. Matt loves to teach spindle turning, bowl making and endgrain objects like boxes and hollow forms. He is recently hooked on the potential of resin/wood projects.
Matt currently is teaching in Rockville Maryland, and at his home shop in Howard County, and is a member of several woodturning groups and on the board of the Howard County woodworkers guild.

The Spring Woodturning Co-op provides access to the woodturning workshop during non-class times. Co-op members should be safety and technically evaluated to work independently, however it is strongly recommended to work with others in the room. Lab fee of $20 is due at first meeting. Woodturning Co-op registration must be pre-approved by Matt Radtke (unless a renewing student) with release forms in place. Co-op members are expected to follow all recommendations for safety, including working only when an additional member is in the room. Access is Monday through friday 9:00AM - 9:00PM, Saturday 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM, unless a class is taking place. Please check schedule before arrival. Advanced bowls is for continuing students to learn different aspects to further their design and production of bowls and closed forms. Subjects to include but not limited to coring, making pots and calabashes, mastering the skew chisel, multiaxis turnings, viking bowls, and enough independent time to complete several personal projects.
