Join us for "A Classic Day" with Gayle Danley, the National Individual Poetry Slam Champion, at Maryland Hall on Saturday, February 25th.Throughout the day, attendees can participate in a youth workshop and lunch, adult master class, dinner with a meet and greet, and a performance by Ms. Danley.Ms. Danley holds a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism from Howard University and an M.A. in Radio, TV, and Film from Syracuse University. She has been featured on CBS's 60 Minutes and is the author of two books of poetry: Naked: Poems that Uncover My Soul and Soulfull: A Study of Slam Poetry.Ms. Danley has been teaching poetry to children for over two decades and has been recognized as Maryland Young Audience's Artist of the Year and National Young Audience's Artist of the Year. Additionally, she has helped women living with AIDS, widows, incarcerated youth, and those struggling with drug addiction and recovery use poetry to cope and bravely face life's challenges through her Grief Friend sessions.She was recently named Maryland Library Association Poet of the Year.
