Lorraine Ellerson:  Artist Statement

"My work is an exploration of our Chesapeake Bay's horizon's through the duality of random and controlled brush and knife work in both flat and textural fields."


Lorraine Ellerson was born in Ontario, Canada and studied at the Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington, DC as well as privately with local artist and former MHCA AIR Mary J. Arthur.  Ellerson has exhibited at Annapolis City Hall and at Art Between the Creeks and her work are in the collection of the Hilton Hotel BWI and several private locations around Maryland.  Ellerson’s abstract work “reflects the shapes of land, water and sky and pay homage to the modernism of Rothko, Milton Avery and Helen Frankenthaler.  Ellerson trained as an interior designer, which was her primary career until recently her selection as an AIR in 2011
