Course Description: 

This stimulating 8 week course will address the fundamental Building Blocks of Watercolor Painting for beginners and intermediate students who want to fill in the gaps in their learning. For example: Color - Learn the principles of mixing color, color harmony and the benefits of using a limited palette. Value - Understand the critical importance of light and shadow, high key, low key, high and low contrast.
Explore a range of brush and non-brush techniques in order to expand your visual vocabulary. Understand the fundamental elements of design for composition. Use thumbnails and the value sketch. Why the sketchbook is so important! Develop key drawing skills using 3D (life studies) and 2D (photos). Subject matter will be from life and photos reference and the emphasis will be on nature.
