Course Description: 

Please contact Nicole Kelsch, School Principal, at 410-263-8289 for more information regarding the Ballet Theatre of Maryland Program. Students at this level must take 5 technique classes per week, 3 pointe classes and 1 LA/NY jazz class. Students not able to make this requirement should enroll in the Intermediate 2 level or lower or open classes. Due to the difficult and large syllabus needed to be mastered, students may be in this level for 2-4 years. Note: Students fulfilling the class requirements for this level may become eligible for selection in the Apprentice 1 program. In this level, emphasis is placed on building strength and speed for petite and grande allegro, grande turns, as well as on refining linking or transition steps. Prerequisite: 6 or more years of previous ballet training, mastery of Intermediate 2 syllabus exams for technique and pointe, faculty approval and/or placement audition. The attire for all classes, except where otherwise noted, is as follows: Girls: Black BTM leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet slippers. Please Note: BTM ‘s black leotard may be purchased exclusively through BTM. Order forms are available on the website,, or by calling our office at 410-263-8289. Forms will also be available in classrooms the first few weeks of class. No jewelry allowed. Hair must be neatly pulled back from the face into a bun. Boys: White t-shirt, black tights, and white or black ballet slippers. No class 10/19/15-10/25/15.
