Digital Visions: Annual Juried Show of the Digital Photography Club of Annapolis

Chaney Gallery, 2nd floor

Juried exhibit of work by members of the Digital Photography Club of Annapolis.

Gallery Talk: Monday, February 9 | 6 pm

Digital Visions features members work from the Digital Photography Club of Annapolis (DPCA).  The exhibit includes examples of some shots straight from the camera and also work that was manipulated in post processing, Photoshopped or done with the new editing software available.

The juror for this exhibit is noted local photographer Warren Kahle.  Kahle has been a member of the Professional Photographers of America, and also a member of its local affiliate, the Maryland Professional Photographers Association.  He has won 10 Fujifilm Masterpiece Awards, 4 Kodak Gallery Awards, 1 Kodak Gallery Elite Award, and 2 American Society of Photographers Elite Awards. He was named both Illustrative Photographer of the Year and Commercial Photographer of the Year. He was a PPA Certified Photographer and earned the Master of Photography degree from PPA in 2002. He was also a member of the Bowie-Crofton Camera Club and earned the title Photographer of the Year in 1993, 1995, and 1996.

He has participated in many juried group and individual exhibits, including the Maryland Federation of Art, the Mitchell Gallery at St. John’s College, the former Capital Gallery at Capital Centre Arena (where he hosted five one-person shows ) and the Montpelier Art Center.  Mr. Kahle had ten images in a 2007 Kodak calendar called "Colors By Nature”.

The DPCA club goals are to have its members take pictures, learn to choose and use digital cameras and tools, find interesting places and ways to take photos and  organize photos. Members also learn to use digital photo editors, create visual effects on photos, make great prints, display our photos and share our photos online.  DPCA meetings are held twice a month on Monday evening at Maryland Hall - September through June. Programs vary, but generally include a featured speaker on a topic of interest followed by a short “tech talk”.  In addition, members’ photos are displayed in scheduled Showcases and Challenges.
