BECOMING: Artistry in the Making
Original Paintings and Drawings by Sandy Cohen.
Opening Reception: Thursday, May 14 | 5:30 - 7 pm
Works in this exhibit were inspired by observing artistry in the making. While seeds of artistry may sprout spontaneously, as when a child is first entranced by natural beauty or discovers joy in artful play, works of art involve effort. In many modes - whether dance or carving, musicianship or painting - artistry develops through training and practice, often guided by strong cultural traditions. Painters and sculptors, aiming to render beautiful form, have long depended on models to pose for them, a skill in itself. These original paintings and drawings present a small sampling from observations of artistry emerging, developing, being enjoyed.
