Elizabeth

Elizabeth Kendall works with lush white porcelain and dense textured black clays using tools and processes that are familiar to the kitchen, sewing room, and the clay studio. "The shapes that emerge are a conversation between my hands and the clay. They are fabric scraps and building block: bricks and windows that define space and celebrate light and shadow."

Her work, both functional and sculptural, has been exhibited in national and international venues and is in collections around the world. She has been a featured artist and contributing author for a variety of publications including: Ceramics Monthly, Pottery Making Illustrated, Clay Times, and Studio Potter.

In addition to teaching at the wheel, Elizabeth conducts hands-on demonstration workshops, focusing on porcelain, paper clay and monoprinting techniques. From 2010 - 2015, she served as President for Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts in Newcastle, MD.
